Ren\u00e9 Derouin, a self-proclaimed \u201cartist with 60 years of experience and a young and creative spirit\u201d, was chosen to design this landmark!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A legacy for Montr\u00e9al<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Named <em>Un phare sur le fleuve<\/em>, this work of art draws inspiration from the river, its founding nations, the territory, migration and nordicity. It will be integrated on the facades of both residential towers of the MaryRobert project, at the corner of Peel and Wellington, in downtown Montr\u00e9al. \u201cThe MaryRobert will become a new iconic landmark in Montr\u00e9al\u2019s landscape,\u201d said Devimco\u2019s President, Serge\u00a0Goulet. It\u2019s important to consider not only passersby that will see the work of art within the urban landscape, but also the project\u2019s residents. Beyond real estate, this initiative is a creative enterprise, a legacy Devimco wants to give the borough and Montr\u00e9al.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>An exceptional artist who\u2019s 82 years young! <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Montr\u00e9al-based multidisciplinary artist Ren\u00e9 Derouin<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>is renowned in Qu\u00e9bec, throughout Canada\u00a0and internationally, especially in Mexico, where he received the highest honours from the Mexican government. His works have been exhibited in France, the United States, Venezuela, Australia and Japan, and are included in many leading national and international collections, such as the Mus\u00e9e national des beaux-arts du Qu\u00e9bec, Biblioth\u00e8que nationale de\u00a0France\u00a0and National Gallery of\u00a0Canada.
